Contadora belongs to the Las Perlas archipelago, made up of 39 islands and 100 islets (many uninhabited) and located in the Gulf of Panama, in the Pacific Sea. It owes the name of the Pearls to the abundance of them that existed in the area during the Spanish colony; As a curious fact, in this archipelago the Peregrina Pearl was found, an unusual type of pearl that was given to Felipe II and later to Elizabeth Taylor.
This archipelago is very famous for its great diversity of marine species, which attracts many people to practice sport fishing and watch cetaceans and turtles. We were more interested in getting to know the island, its beaches and relaxing on our vacations.
