The MAC Gala 2023 took place on June 1st in the Fashion and Design District. This year, the MAC Gala is inspired by the spirit of transformation and renewal.
The Plaza de Santa Ana and the old French Bazaar, a building that currently houses the Fashion and Design District; were filled with lights, fashion, art and glamor in celebration of the MAC Gala.
MAC Gala is the event par excellence that allows the MAC to raise the necessary funds annually for the free art and education programs of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama, which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary.
The Fashion and Design District mixes the decorative Art Deco with the pragmatic Modernism and where the European meets the Panamanian. For this edition, the theme of the event is “Feel”, which invites its participants to experience a wide range of emotions and reflections after experiencing a global pandemic such as COVID-19.

The MAC Gala seeks to explore the features of the past in the present, and proposed an event with a concept inspired by Neo Art Deco; a design style that mixes the modern with the glamor of decades past. Through an auction, which began in digital format and continued physically and silently during the gala, various unique pieces of clothing and jewelry, visual arts, sculptures, and more were exhibited in the Fashion and Design District. With this dynamic, the Museum of Contemporary Art seeks to raise the necessary funds for the development of its free art and education programs.
